After 354 days I have returned to Magyarorszag! This delightfully flat land of Turo
Rudi, tongue twisting words and Disco music (for those living next door to a
Gypsy Farmer) has welcomed me back with open arms.
The GoodSports team is busy preparing for 7 summer
camps. Yes, that’s right, 7 summer
camps. Prayers are very much
appreciated.
June 30 – July 4
2.) Teen
Talk – a fun English learning experience for the teenagers of Russ’ village:
Mikepércs!
3.) Adult
English Class – the Szappanos Street Baptist Church in Debrecen is partnering
with us to do an evening English camp for people 16 and older. Evangelism and English pair up for a
week-long evening camp that will include beginning English learners as well as
those looking to polish their business English.
July 6-12
4.) Dorcas Camp 1 – an overnight camp for children from
orphanages and the local Debrecen churches. In previous years this camp was strictly English and
strictly for teens. We’ve tweaked
it a bit this year. Now it’s for
ages 9-15 and will be focused on evangelism (roughly based on the idea of
Vacation Bible School).
July 13-19
5.) Dorcas Camp 2 – this overnight camp is for the children
of the Miskolc Children’s Home (orphanage). GoodSports has been in relationship with this orphanage
since 1997. The camp will be the
same idea and format of Dorcas Camp 1.
July 28 – August 1
6.) Mikepercs Camp – for all the children of the
village. English in the morning
and sports in the afternoon!
7.) LOGOS Camp – to be held in Jozsa (a suburb of Debrecen)
in partnership with the local Reformed Church. LOGOS is the Language School that was founded by GoodSports
Hungary director Russell Chun.
This camp is an English based day-care camp for primary school aged
children.
We appreciate all of your prayers as we move into these
camps. Teams are coming from all
over the globe to assist us – please pray for traveling mercies. Kids are coming from all over Eastern
Hungary to attend these camps – please pray for open hearts and minds to
receive the Gospel of Christ.
